General 'Thompson Assistance' terms and conditions (+32 3/253.62.37)

A. GENERAL PROVISIONS

The provisions that follow apply to the entire assistance policy.
1. Who can make use of this assistance policy?
Every driver of a Thompson bicycle that is part of the specific range that is entitled to bicycle assistance and for which the frame number has been reported electronically. This driver can make use of this assistance policy insofar as he is immobilized according to the conditions of “Thompson Bicycle Assistance”. The road warden may ask for the frame number of the bicycle and your identity card. If the frame number and/or identity data do not match the information passed on and registered, the intervention may be charged.
2. Which bicycles are connected?
All Thompson bicycles which are entitled to bicycle assistance and which are part of the specific range are covered by this policy.
3. Commencement and term of validity of the policy
The bicycle assistance is valid for twelve consecutive months and starts from 2 days after the registration date, unless explicitly stated otherwise. The duration of the bicycle assistance cannot be (temporarily) suspended. The bicycle assistance must be activated electronically within 1 month of purchase. Otherwise, the right to Thompson bicycle assistance will lapse.
4. Disputes
In case of disputes, only the courts of Antwerp are competent.
5. Disclaimer
Thompson shall not be liable for any failure to carry out the relief work, failure or delay in carrying it out, in circumstances beyond our control or in cases of force majeure, such as civil or international war, popular insurrection, strike, retaliation, restriction freedom of movement, radioactivity, natural disasters, etc.

6. Exclusions
Thompson Bicycle Assistance is not obliged to intervene in the event of:

• Price of spare parts or material. (including the costs for the specifications and the dismantling of the bicycle by the repairer).
• Interventions resulting from incidents that do not immobilize the bicycle.
• Repair costs by bicycle repairers and any maintenance costs.
• Costs resulting from performance not requested or authorized by Thompson.
• Any damage, breakdown or accident that occurs during training or participation of the bicycle in competitions.
• This agreement does not cover theft or damage to objects or accessories of the bicycle as a result of a breakdown or accident.
• Assistance for a bicycle that is already at a bicycle repair shop.
• Bicycle removal on behalf of the government or the police.
• All cases of abuse and/or cheating.
• Breakdown as a result of adjustments, installation of accessories and non-original parts
• Breakdown due to negligence in maintenance
• Interventions that are requested in places that are not accessible to intervention vehicles (e.g. forest path, …)
• Interventions at the home address or in a radius of 1 kilometer around the home
• Medical assistance to bicycle driver
• Telephone costs to reach the assistance centre
• Lost keys of a bicycle lock
• Interventions outside Belgium and the Netherlands

7. Obligations of the insured
The insured undertakes:

• To cooperate with the administrative formalities and obligations necessary to carry out the requested assistance.
• To inform us correctly about the insured claim.

B. BICYCLE BREAKDOWN RESPONSE
1. Geographic Coverage:
The assistance is valid in Belgium and the Netherlands, from a distance of 1 km from the place of residence or the start or end point of the journey.
2. When is assistance provided?
The guarantee applies if the immobilisation has arisen from a technical defect, theft, accident or vandalism.
Thompson Bicycle Assistance is only provided if the driver is present with his bicycle and the bicycle is on a road that is accessible to an assistance vehicle.
3. What does the service consist of?

• Sending a mechanic to the site, after a telephone call on the unique Thompson Bicycle Assistance telephone number (+32 3/253.62.37).
• If the bicycle cannot be made roadworthy again on site by the roadside assistance, the bicycle and the driver will be transferred to, during the opening hours of the bicycle repair shops:
• The bicycle is completely immobilized (no further riding is possible):
• The bicycle and the driver are taken to the nearest bicycle repair shop.

• The bicycle and the driver are transferred to the starting point or destination or the place of residence if this is closer.
• Outside the opening hours of the bicycle repair shops:
• The bicycle is completely immobilized (no further riding is possible):
